West Virginia, Take Me Home

Arrived in W. Virginia today. The scenery is unreal. Bob was right about what everything looks like. Everywhere you look it’s like a post card. People are incredibly friendly and amazed at what we’re doing. It’s like a blank spot in our memory dealing with Dad’s keeping his childhood a mystery giving us only glimpses occasionally by way of a funny story, or to teach us some life lesson filtered through his simple hillbilly logic (which you could seldom argue with). Looking forward to seeing the homestead tomorrow.

We had a good day of riding today; we are getting used to the riding together.

We stop just before Millstone, WV, to spend the night. Millstone is where Dad was born.

Tomorrow may be a more emotional day then we think. It is times like this we all feel the loss of Mom and Dad.

Awakened @ 5:38 (approximately) by the building shaking from thunder, lightning, and rain of biblical proportions (think Hilo). By the time we got done whining and packed it had all but stopped. We did get the chance to test the rain resistance pretty early on.

On our first official side trip we went to Morgantown where a friend of mine was born. He asked if we had time to take some pictures of the house he was born in. Morgantown is a very pretty university town that reminds me a bit of Bellingham. Spent the night in Weston, WV.

Pat the Harley guy had dinner with us.

Good trip in West Virginia. Met with another rider (Pat) in Weston, WV. We had dinner with him. Spent the night headed for the homestead. We have talked about this trip with a lot of people, and we will do more of that before we get home.
